St. Mary’s Indian Orthodox Sunday School, Perth - OSSAE Asia Pacific Diocese

St. Mary’s Indian Orthodox Sunday School is part of the OSSAE Asia Pacific Diocese Sunday School and is dedicated to the spiritual growth and holistic development of children within the Malankara Indian Orthodox Church in Perth. 

Sunday Classes: Regular Sunday School classes are conducted on Saturday mornings, following the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Our classes aim to nurture children to live according to the Word of God and embrace and practice Orthodox Christian principles. Learning is enriched through common prayer and teaching sessions, fun-filled song sessions, interactive Bible studies and engaging, age-appropriate classroom activities. Prescribed textbooks are provided for each year group, ensuring consistency and meaningful spiritual education.

Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS): The Orthodox Vacation Bible School is usually held during the September–October school holidays, spanning 3–4 days of spirit-filled singing and action songs, creative art and craft sessions and interactive learning activities. The program concludes with participation in the Holy Eucharist and a joyful Finale Rally, showcasing all that the children have learned. More information is provided ahead of each OVBS.

Talent Competition & Church Activities: Annual church-level talent competition is conducted to identify and encourage the God-given talents of our children. Participants are grouped into age-based categories and compete in various events. Further details are shared closer to the event dates. Our Sunday School children actively participate in parish life by serving as Acolytes, singing in the Church Choir and by taking part in Christmas carols and other church celebrations.
